Power Flushing

Over time some heating systems may experience poor circulation resulting in lukewarm radiators, poor hot water, increased noise and sludge build up.

By 'power flushing' your heating system, the sludge and built up residue will be removed via inline magnetic filtration, it will make your system work more efficiently. The cost of 'power flushing' starts from £350 plus VAT (Please note that power flushes will not remove blockages) depending on the type of system you own.

If your system shows any of the following symptoms:

  • Cold spots
  • Poor circulation
  • Noisy systems
  • System blockages
  • Expensive bills
  • Dirty system water

Before power flushing, a detailed survey of the system is carried out, noting individual radiator temperatures and any cold spots that may be present. A sample of the system water is taken and analysed. Power flushing is then carried out, using Sentinel's Jetflush machine in conjunction with the appropriate Sentinel cleaning chemical.

Power flushing is a three-stage operation, firstly, the system is flushed as a whole, allowing the chemicals to work, during this process the direction of flow is repeatedly reversed to help dislodge stubborn sludge deposits. Next, all radiators are closed off bar one, this radiator now gets the full cleaning capacity of the Jetflush machine. The radiator then gets closed and the next one is opened, the process being repeated until all radiators have been individually flushed. Secondly, the above process is carried out with fresh water, flushing all deposits and chemicals to waste. Thirdly, the system is re-filled with clean water and Sentinel X100 inhibitor.

Sentinel X100 is a general-purpose treatment for total protection against scale and corrosion in all types of indirect central heating systems, including those containing aluminium. Will extend the life of the system, and ensure maximum efficiency and minimum fuel usage. Once added, Sentinel X100 never needs to be replaced unless the system is drained down.

After completing the power flush, the boiler is restarted and another survey carried out for comparison, a water sample is also taken.

An average system takes the best part of a day to power flush.

Prices start at £350 plus VAT
